The main goal of this day is to visit the market in Lung Phin, a place where time seems to have stood still. Many kilometers before reaching Lung Phin, you'll see an endless procession of people walking on foot with their livestock - goats, cattle, and dogs intended for human consumption - headed to the market. Especially upon arrival at the market, you'll experience many curious stares as a "foreign guest." We expect our travelers to respect the local culture. This includes taking photos: do so only if people are willing. If you take your time to explore the town and the market, you'll find opportunities to capture pictures.
You'll embark on an eighty-kilometer journey to the Ban Gioc waterfalls on a well-maintained road. Along the way, you'll get to know life in a Nung minority village. Near the Chinese border, you'll take a short walk to get close to the three hundred meters wide and fifty meters high waterfalls. In the winter (dry season), you can take a boat under the waterfalls. Two kilometers from the falls lies the Nguom Ngao Cave. Accompanied by two local guides, you can embark on a two to four-hour journey through underground rivers, lakes, and stalactite caves. In the late afternoon, you'll return to Cao Bang.
In Hanoi, you can use the day to rest after the past few days' adventures and shopping in the Old Quarter. In the evening, you'll board the overnight train to Hue (soft sleeper).
We will bring you to Danang airport from where you'll fly with Vietnam Airlines to Saigon. Upon arrival, we will bring you to your hotel.
